Federal Court Approves the Merlo Davidson Class Action Settlement

On May 30, 2017, the Federal Court of Canada approved the settlement agreement in the Merlo Davidson class action. This class action relates to gender and sexual orientation based harassment and discrimination of women who worked in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (defind as the Primary Class members in the Settlement agreement).

The Federal Court Approval Order, among other things, approved the Settlement Agreement and a 15% counsel fee to be levied on all successful claims. It also confirmed the appointment of the Honourable Michel Bastarache, C.C., Q.C. as the Independent Assessor.
