SUMMARY OF THE CLAIMS TIMELINE

The Claims Period is now closed.  Below you will find the deadlines that were set by the Settlement Agreement which was approved by the Federal Court on May 30, 2017.

October 6, 2016

The parties sign and announce the Settlement Agreement.

January 13, 2017

The Federal Court certifies the class action for the purpose of approving the Settlement Agreement.

January 28th, 2017

The Notice of Certification and Settlement Approval Hearing is published and sent by mail to potential primary class members. It was also posted in RCMP facilities.

March 29, 2017

The last day for class members to opt-out.  They were required to do so by  returning the Opt Out Form to class counsel.

May 30, 2017

The Federal Court approved the Settlement Agreement and appointed Mr. Bastarache as Independent Assessor.

August 1, 2017

The implementation date as defined in the Settlement Agreement which is the day the agreement is final.

August 12, 2017

The Independent Assessor publishes the Notice of Settlement Approval. This marks the beginning of the 180-day claims period.

February 8, 2018

The deadline to file a claim if you have not signalled your intention to make a claim on or before this date.

May 22, 2018

The deadline to file a claim if you signalled your intention to file a claim on or before February 8, 2018.

The deadline to file a request for an extension if you did not signal your intention to make a claim on or before February 8, 2018.
